Babies and human kindness
By Judie Brown
In a country replete with indifference and sometimes even disdain for preborn babies, we must do everything in our power to protect and defend them – from the very first moment they are created.
As Emily Brown writes, acts of kindness help us feel a little bit better about ourselves, not to mention the good they do for the recipients of our unselfish action, word, or message.
This is particularly true in our world today when we speak about or witness the miracle of life, not only when a baby is born but during the time a baby is growing from his very beginning until the time of his birth. The preborn baby is someone who truly needs our acts of kindness each and every day now more than ever.
While these children have never committed an injustice toward anyone, been tried by a jury, or found guilty of a crime by a judge, they are the ones who go silently to their deaths in America at a rate that literally stuns the mind. The direct killing of each of them is not considered a crime in this country. That fact alone astounds us even now after nearly 45 years of decriminalized abortion.
The people of the United States have become numbed to the fact that an abortion kills a preborn child – an individual member of the human family.
Recently the left-wing propaganda reporting of Mother Jones decried the human personhood effort at the federal and state levels claiming that "the personhood movement has gained ground by arguing that many common forms of contraception are actually abortifacients, a claim that contradicts widespread medical consensus. An August New England Journal of Medicine article labeled these claims 'alternative science' and called out abortion opponents for 'making up their own definitions for abortifacient and pregnancy and then using them to justify refusals to fill prescriptions or offer insurance coverage for contraceptives.'"
The problem with what Mother Jones says here is that if one compares the scientific facts about whether or not a human person begins his life as a single cell individual with the claims of the culture of death, it is clear that it is they who are creating a fake narrative to support their efforts to continue killing the babies. And let us not forget that the once-prestigious New England Journal of Medicine publishes pro-abortion propaganda on a regular basis and has for more than 40 years.
It should be abundantly clear that babies of every age – whether before or after birth – should receive unselfish love defined as kindness, warmth, and maternal and paternal joy, and all that accompanies pregnancy, birth, and family in a stable society.
It is our task to restore that balance and become a society that always and in every case puts innocent human beings at the forefront of what we do, what we say, and how we act. Human beings were designed to deliver those priceless messages of hope, yet today too many do not seem prepared to love and affirm life.
That's where you and I come in.
Pro-life heroine Dr. Monica Miller recently lamented: "The lives of the ordinary public are not much disturbed by the 3,500 murders that happen each day under the law."
Yes, that is true. We know the problem and we have the solution. We must not allow our fellow Americans to remain comfortable with abortion. We must act in ways that teach, preach, and display what a glorious blessing it is to affirm life and exhibit love for every human being.
We all have the power to effect change. There is so much we can do. Begin by praying for our nation. Then teach your children the profound truths about the value and dignity of the human person. Encourage all people to speak out and defend the vulnerable by becoming activists for life! Learn more about Stop Planned Parenthood International (STOPP). When we take steps to rid our nation of the culture of death, we will begin to see human kindness for the preborn and all persons return and flourish.
Lift the curtain of gloom from those in your sphere of influence who take abortion for granted by living the pro-life life. In that way, more and more babies will experience the glow of human kindness, no longer to be confronted with the deadly effects of a culture of deception, disdain, and hate.
