Media exhibits fake shock

It used to be that taking a knee showed respect and reverence. Is that no longer the case?

President Donald Trump's indelicate choice of words when speaking about professional athletes who disrespect the American flag has really created a media buzz. Whether that is good or bad I would leave for others to analyze. But what I will say is that it once again exposes the bogus indignation that laces so much of what the secular mainstream media asserts is news.

Atlantic magazine's website headlined its story with the phrase "Trump's War of Words with Black Athletes." What? It was clear to us that Trump had difficulty accepting the actions of those who use their professional athletic status to disrespect our nation's flag. However, he did not specifically refer to any athletes by race or suggest that race had anything to do with his sense of honoring the flag versus bringing identity politics to bear on a national symbol.

NBC focused on National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell and his suggestion that, by making those comments, Trump exhibited an "unfortunate lack of respect" for those involved with the NFL. What? Is the commissioner suggesting that it is okay to disrespect our nation's flag but not okay to call attention to NFL players who use their position for the promotion of their own political opinions?

I believe that such statements, reported by national media and expanded upon by pundits from both sides, become even more egregious when we take into account one glaring truth. The national media elite do not care one iota about the thousands of preborn children who die every day from cruel and inhumane acts of abortion. They do not report the facts on Planned Parenthood's totally obvious targeting of minorities. They do not report on the various abortionists who butcher expectant mothers. And they do not report on the biased manner in which social media like Twitter discriminates against pro-life organizations and their advertising.

No. The media has absolutely no interest in any of these things even though each of them has serious consequences for our nation, her families, and our national sense of pride for our own expectant mothers and their babies – born and preborn.

Unlike the fake shock uttered by the media when President Trump pointed out the obvious with some tough talk, the matters we enumerate here have a real impact on how our nation respects human beings and welcomes the innocent as members of the human family. In order to have genuine solidarity among men and women of every race, color, and creed, we must first stop killing the youngest and the most vulnerable in our midst.

Let us remember and reflect upon the profound words of St. John Paul II: "'How is it still possible to speak of the dignity of every human person when the killing of the weakest and most innocent is permitted? In the name of what justice is the most unjust of discriminations practiced: some individuals are held to be deserving of defense and others are denied that dignity?' When this happens, the process leading to the breakdown of a genuinely human co-existence and the disintegration of the State itself has already begun."

Distractions like those noted at the beginning of this article really prove the point. How can this nation have a national debate about football players "taking a knee" when every day we kill our future one baby at a time? How can we refuse to discuss this incredibly important matter?

Pray
for our nation. While some are taking a knee in protest of racial discrimination, we will bend a knee in prayer that all violence against preborn human beings – including racist, sexist, and eugenic violence – comes to an immediate end. Teach your children the profound truths about the value and dignity of the human person. Use the CLSP tools to teach your children that abortion is wrong. And encourage all people to speak out and defend the vulnerable by becoming activists for life! Expose the evils of Planned Parenthood and use the facts to do so.

We can make a difference and turn the tide.

Take these actions today and hold the line! Be a winner for the babies – each of whom deserve a victory!
