The real war on women

This week we saw great strides in the elections and in the decisions people made to elect pro-life leaders. But we cannot stop there. The battle will not be won if all we do is vote and hope. We must be proactive. We must pray. We must work day in and day out to stop the culture of death from getting its grips on us and our children.

Congratulations are in order and are extended to everyone involved in the political segment of our movement. It is clear that today pro-life Americans now have a much better chance of exposing Planned Parenthood's evil ways, attaining better political traction for cutting off its funding spout, and hopefully ridding the nation of its evil.

We must also rejoice and be thankful that Planned Parenthood pawns Sandra Fluke, Wendy Davis, and others like them lost their races in utterly embarrassing ways. The truth has won the day in so many political races this week.

I congratulate Personhood USA and its outstanding analysis of the results that came pouring into our living rooms this past Tuesday night. As Josh Craddock said, "The raw increase in votes for personhood in Colorado indicates that Planned Parenthood's lies are losing their effect. . . . The bottom line is that people's minds have been changed on the issue of abortion because of Amendment 67."

Yet we also have a great deal of work to do in exposing the grisly underbelly of an industry that is up to no good in any number of ways. The reports of its handiwork are stunning examples of all that we have left to accomplish on our road to the ultimate victory. And it needs to be said that the election results to which I just referred have not deterred a single one of these efforts.

The marketing of Brittany Maynard's sad but tragic end continues to inspire the proponents of assisted suicide to press forward. Adam MacLeod explained it well when he wrote that suicide never looked "more vivacious." Today, in the wake of Brittany's death, the proponents of euthanasia (assisted suicide) press on, elections notwithstanding.

In addition, the surrogate motherhood industry continues to offer big bucks to gullible young women like Nancy, a vulnerable Mexican girl who received seven thousand British pounds ($11,140) for carrying the child of a homosexual couple. Unfortunately, Nancy's story is not a rarity, especially among the poor and needy who will do anything to bring money home to their poverty stricken families.

The global trade in reproduction has not been deterred in any way by the politics that are consuming pro-lifers with euphoria this week. For more than 10 years the industry has conducted business as usual: "Gay couples want to have families, and single women want to become mothers but often need egg donations, in addition to sperm, to get pregnant. The desire of individuals and couples who want children and can't have them without medical assistance translates into a right to parenthood."

But the fact is that there is no such thing as a right to parenthood, nor is there a right to a child. It is the child who has the right to be brought into the world as a result of the conjugal love of his parents. Yet who is listening? Who cares?

Finally we come to the undeniable connection between contraception and abortion – a subject many of us shy away from for fear of being rejected as zealots. Yet if we are truly concerned about saving lives and souls we must make the connection. It is our duty. Why? Well not only does contraception lead to abortion, but sadly many of the contraceptive devices and chemicals CAUSE abortion. So we have every reason to focus attention on them as an integral part of our struggle to end practices that dehumanize human beings from creation to death.

We have a lot to do. Basking in the light of a new political day will, at its end, mean only as much as we demand that it mean. Let's get moving.

And let's be clever, understanding as we must that cultural hedonism is not corrected by an election but rather by a conversion to the teachings of Almighty God.

We must never stop taking action. We must show others by these actions that each and every life is precious. Let us pray for our nation. Let us contact Stop Planned Parenthood and sign the DEFUND PLANNED PARENTHOOD petition. And let us learn how to effectively argue against the advancing culture of death. These tools and more are available at www.all.org.
