America's fear of children

We witness today a growing trend toward love of self and disdain for those who get in the way of self-be they children, the infirm, or the elderly. Our "me" society seems to be losing the vision of a healthy, happy family, and instead focusing on hedonistic pleasures geared at destroying the family. If we continue in this fashion, the loudest sound we will hear will be the weeping of souls.

Fecundophobia has swept the nation by storm. Actually it has slowly dulled the senses of far too many people by demonizing any idea that a family is composed of a father, mother, and children.

Here is how one enemy of the family defines fecundophobia. During the 2012 election cycle, Washington Post writer Lisa Miller wrote about politicians displaying pictures of their families showcasing their wives and children. She said such family portrayal was actually a type of "smug fecundity." Miller opined, "What the Republican front-runners seem to be saying is this: We are like the biblical patriarchs. As conservative religious believers, we take seriously the biblical injunction to be fruitful and multiply."

But it was this statement that showed Miller's true feministic claws: "Especially worrisome is the inevitable corollary to that belief: Women should put their natural fertility first – before their brains, before their ability to earn a living, before their independence – because that's what God wants."

So if we take Miller's words to heart, what this means is that, in today's world, the family has become the enemy of all things politically correct. Any idea that there is such a thing as a moral way to conduct one's life goes right out the window.

It is clear that the wholesome values we once took for granted are fast becoming modern-day inscriptions on the rotting walls closing in on what many perceive as the stone-age of Christianity. God is out and sexual pleasure is in. Just look at what Planned Parenthood is doing and it won't take long for you to get the picture. Fecundophobia is more than just a weird word. It is the enemy's way of defining its hatred of Godly values.

If you think such a statement is way off base, consider recent events in Tampa, Florida. The Tampa Tribune reported that a "raunchy" sex-ed film featuring middle school students was shot at a local Catholic school. Yes, I said Catholic. Though the school has been closed since 2012, film producers still had to obtain permission from the diocese. When reporters got wind of this, they immediately contacted the diocese and the parish. Would you believe it? Nary a person responded to the request for an interview.

The article also points out that Planned Parenthood had a hand in providing materials for this movie. According to the article, "Planned Parenthood donated contraceptives, sex education text books, and pamphlets."

Are we shocked yet? Probably not, and that is my point.

Whether it is social engineers using Margaret Sanger as their idol or public policy experts elevating abortion to the realm of the moral, something is definitely amiss in this "land of the free and home of the brave."

The disease has gone viral and the antidote – though obvious to folks like me – is not clear at all to the victims standing in its wake. This rush to demonize the traditional family, the preborn child, and aging family members is picking up steam daily. The cause is, of course, the mindless denial of the existence of God that prevails in today's culture.

For society to change course is not an impossible challenge. The first step is to recognize this fear of children that exists within the culture and then to do something about it.

What can you do?
  • Unmask the cruel facts about what aborting a child does to both mother and child

  • Expose the results of Planned Parenthood's disdain for all that is of God and His word

  • Define the tragic consequences of unbridled lust

  • Speak clearly about why it is always and in every case wrong to intentionally take the life of an innocent person-whether born or pre born
At the launch of our Defend the Family campaign, American Life League said, "Planned Parenthood has torn apart the family like a pack of ravenous wolves. The pro-life movement and the Church must stand together, face this threat, and shield our families from Planned Parenthood's continued assaults."

This fear of children has its root in the anti-child, anti-God philosophy spawned by Planned Parenthood, and like every demon it must be driven out first with prayer and fasting, and then with action based on fact. Join us today!
