The pope and Obama- -seeds of good and evil
By Judie Brown
Jesus told us that, if we have faith the size of a mustard seed, we can move mountains. Yet the seeds most prevalent in society today are not those that bloom into something beautiful, but those that breed discontent, doubt, animosity, or even death. The seeds of life planted within a womb are repeatedly slaughtered. But our faith must remain. If we are to move mountains – soften the countless hardened hearts – we must rely on God. And we must pray.
The deed is over and done. The Holy Father has met with the president of the United States, Barack Obama, and oh what an event it was. At least the media presented it that way. Reuters reported the meeting got so cozy that Obama invited the pope to the White House!
Now how sweet is that, folks?
The Washington Times reported that Obama presented the pope with "a custom-made chest with a variety of fruit and vegetable seeds used in the White House garden."
How ironic is that? As the Obama administration sows seeds of detestation against God's people in the workplace through the egregious contraceptive mandate, flower seeds become the gift from the great pretender to the vicar of Christ on Earth. Is Obama suggesting that planting those seeds in the papal gardens will somehow offset the ugliness with which the administration is treating people of faith with its draconian policies?
What a shameful thing that is!
One can only hope that the pope is not duped into believing that there is a sincere bone in the president's body. Those of us who have watched him maneuver and manipulate Catholics over the last seven years certainly know better. This is a man who will do whatever is necessary to push forward his pro-abortion, pro-Planned Parenthood agenda.
Take for instance one of his cherished Catholic pro-abortion pals, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Among the most deceptive women in public life today, Pelosi was just announced as the recipient of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America's Margaret Sanger Award.
Pelosi now joins luminaries like Dr. Ruth Westheimer, sexologist extraordinaire! Westheimer was even photographed hugging Obama at a 2013 Planned Parenthood event, suggesting that the president saves his sincerity for those of like mind.
We all know about Margaret Sanger, herself an enemy of the Catholic Church, who was among the first to call people of color and the poor "human weeds." Eugenics was her passion, and today that attitude is reflected in much of the work Planned Parenthood does in minority communities.
President Obama is brilliant in his use of so-called Catholics like Pelosi, Biden, and Sebelius as chief people whom he has placed at the forefront of his war on Catholicism, but now he has even taken his seeds of rancor and disdain into the Vatican. This is not really all that shocking when one considers that Obama and Planned Parenthood are like two peas in a pod when it comes to deceptive tactics. In 2013, "President Obama told Planned Parenthood . . . he will fight various efforts to restrict women's access to abortion, contraceptives and other services."
So we hear it straight from Obama's mouth. While he may take full advantage of those photo ops from his visit with Pope Francis, they will not change his daily campaign to do all within his power to eliminate religious freedom and the ability to follow the will of God in the Christian workplace.
Oh sure, he will do it with a smile on his face, but what is flourishing in his heart? Good or evil?
