Ignoring political shifts and current world events is not part of being wise as a serpent

After nearly a half century of studying second coming doctrine in the light of world events, I am convinced of one thing. No insult is intended when I say that it seems that the church has strayed form the Lord's admonition found in Matthew 10:16 to become as wise as doves and as harmless as snakes as it pertains to eschatology.

Prophecy buffs and pseudo prophetic voices have flooded the media with personal, conjectural and spurious interpretations of this important part of scripture. It has become hard even for the most serious student of prophecy to stay on track or to even find the right track on which to base their basic knowledge of the subject.

Christians need to understand that just like other matters in our society there is a liberal and a conservative view of these major doctrines. While not every detail of second coming events can be determined with certainty the main body of knowledge is self-apparent and cannot be shifted at the whim of every nascent eschatological interpreter or sudden changes in current events.

Jesus fairly warned us of this mistake with no uncertain words; the book of Revelation holds the strongest example of such warnings.

"For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book." (Rev 22: 18-19)

Believers are more apt to ignore the prophecy, or to claim that it is too hard to understand than to add anything to it. All of the above approaches will create great confusion and disappointment in the days ahead.

We don't expect unbelievers to understand one iota of prophecy because their minds are kept in the dark by "the god of this world," but for the believers there is little excuse for our willful ignorance and timidity and our willingness to leave the safety of the totally Biblical and conservative view of these all important matters.

Microcosmic Examples Show Trends and the Permanent Historic Changes that Effect our World

From the classiest Safavieh carpet to the patterns in an ordinary rug the knots used to create the overall design are only spots or miniscule examples of the whole. The fullness of the carpet can only be appreciated from a distance.

Most conservatives today appreciate President Trump's call to a new nationalism and a return to patriotism, but the rest of the world is hardly following suit. To see the changes happening around the world we must pull ourselves out of the isolation of the American way of life, if just for a time, in order to see what is encroaching on all mankind.

The cry for globalism is entering throughout the world. Some of the obvious examples are the calls to break down border restrictions and jack-up migrant quotas across the globe.

The general disdain and even hatred toward Christians are at a peak. Thousands of believers have been slain, tortured, jailed and deported on a world wide scale.

We generally see the clamoring for the antichristian stance and world governance in Europe and in Muslim countries, but closer to home, Canada's Justin Trudeau has blatantly declared that "Christians are the lowest element of Canadian society."

Europe has pressured EU nations to submit to draconian global measures and is creating an atmosphere of fear and hopelessness. Not wanting to disturb the "religious peace," whatever that may be, they have begun to prosecute and persecute those who have not only recognized, but are inclined to voice their discoveries that Islam is not just a religion, but it is a political and ideological doctrine bent on taking over the globe. They have labeled it "Islamic blasphemy" and elevated it to the status of – law of the land.

France has all but become Muslim and Turkey has nearly wiped out the Christian Church in the very cradle of Christianity.

In Switzerland which is not a full member of the EU, Brussels has effectively threatened the inclusion of the Swiss stock market, the fourth largest in Europe, if they do not allow more immigrants and Sharia compliant laws.

In China using cash in all major urban areas has disappeared due to electronic handling of sales from a pack of gum to a luxury car.

The next time someone belittles you with the label of "one world conspiricist" take heart, these facts don't require any conspiracy theories to prove and only someone who is totally asleep could not see these historic changes in our world.

Speaking of sleep, consider what the Apostle Paul has said.

"And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light." (Ro 13:11-12)

If it is high time to wake out of sleep then it is also time to cast of the darkness. Not to see these worldwide changes means you are still nestled cozily in a dark little nest and you are fast asleep.
