Feminism -- schools are their playgrounds (Part II)

"When a crowd adopts a point of view en masse, all critical thinking stops." ~William Powers

The Feminist Movement is on the wane. There's a conservative counter-revolution brewing but the damage to our society and our children has taken its toll. Meanwhile the vestiges of feminist indoctrination flourish in the liberal public schools, colleges and universities. The 1960s feminist sexual revolution has been institutionalized and accepted.

Even right-of-center conservative Americans who say they are not feminists do not recognize they have accepted some aspect of feminism. My oldest son notes, "We are feminists by default. Feminism is the air we have all been breathing, the water we all swim in, the essence that permeates us through and through."

We don't recognize feminism in our thinking or our behavior, yet we are constantly bombarded by its ideals through entertainment media, books, movies, in the workplace and, most importantly, the public school system.

In "Save the Male," Kathleen Parker wrote, "Boys learn early that they belong to the 'bad' sex and their female counterparts to the 'good.'"

Despite obvious differences between males and females, feminism aimed to teach girls to aspire to be masculine and boys to be feminine. Public schools have become the focus of increasing girl-centered education and decreasing the natural inclinations of boys.

From the early 1900s, parents in good faith have enrolled their children in the public school system. In those times family, schools and churches were all on the same page.

But when the primary sources for character development, God and the Bible, were removed from public schools in the 60s, what took their place? Man-made situational ethics, social character development programs — without any moral absolutes or authority.

Now the public schools are the playground of feminism. When "how to have sex" and practice at putting condoms on bananas are subjects — we're hitting the bottom rung of the meaning of character education. Promiscuity is sure to follow.

Traditional families find themselves in a cultural war zone where everything is against them. Children spend upwards of seven hours a day in the school environment. When government issues mandates that our children are to be instructed in anything outside of classical education, there can only be one response — No! Parents, take your children and run for the nearest exit.

Feminists have endeavored to nullify the traditional family, spit on the husband-wife-children family, and build on the ideal of women making the whole world their kingdom. Don't look for a high school "Home Economics" class — they no longer exist.

Our culture is upside down. Girls are taught to aspire to big careers, rather than being a wife and mother, raising and nurturing the next generation. But as we have sadly found out, the postponement of marriage and children has resulted in childlessness for many women. Fertility Clinics now abound for women unable to get pregnant.

Some of us remember when finding the right man to settle down with, raising a family and being a home-worker was the ideal. For the past 45 years, cumulative changes have been wrought by feminist thinking all but destroying our once civilized society.

We still have marriages, but with no guarantees of commitment and longevity — divorce rests between "I" and "do." Children are just additions to be put in daycare, preschool, and school — out of sight and mind. Let other people and institutions raise, nurture and teach them.

With the explosion of girls having children without husbands, our society has taken a full turn from abstinence to a promiscuous nation. Fatherless homes have become a norm for over 40 percent of families. Men have acquiesced to feminism by abdicating any responsibility or accountability for creating families. Also, divorce and family laws work against fathers.

The Feminist Planned Parenthood believe promiscuity is normal and abortion is a contraceptive. The feminist right for "abortion on demand" of millions of babies has contributed to the de-valuation of life itself. Now we have young women delivering and abandoning their babies in toilets or throwing them alive in dumpsters, then returning to their self-serving lives — as if the baby they just delivered was a beetle to be stomped on. What education is this? Real character?

In their book "The Flipside of Feminism," Suzanne Venker and Phyllis Schlafly write, "Rejecting feminism and restoring mutual respect for both sexes are prerequisites for moving forward." It's a start and something we can all work on.
