Pavone: Romney-Ryan better than Obama
By Matt C. Abbott
I've already resigned myself to another four years of President Obama. But then, I'm a pessimist. I'll gladly eat crow if I'm wrong.
If. We'll see.
I asked Father Frank Pavone of Priests for Life: "Wondering if you might have comments on Mitt Romney's running mate Paul Ryan and whether Catholics should vote for Romney over President Obama?"
Father Pavone's response:
A bit of slightly off-color political humor (let me first emphasize that I support the relatively few authentically pro-life, pro-family Democrats over the relatively few anti-life, anti-family Republicans):

I am very happy about the choice of Rep. Paul Ryan as Governor Romney's running mate. As the National Right to Life Committee has pointed out, he has a 100% score on the votes he has taken on matters related to the protection of the unborn. As my friend and colleague Deacon Keith Fournier has also pointed out, Rep. Ryan makes an informed and deliberate effort to apply all the social teachings of the Catholic Church in his legislative proposals and votes.
Speaking as a private citizen and not on behalf of any of the organizations I lead, it is clear to me that taking account not only of the teachings of the Church but of the demands of conscience in the light of the holocaust we continue to face with abortion, voting for the Romney-Ryan ticket is a smart way to mitigate the present evil we are facing. As the video I have recently released at www.Unborn.info reminds us, if a candidate supported terrorism, you wouldn't try to balance that against other more favorable positions he or she might have. How the violence of abortion is any less serious or offensive has yet to be demonstrated.

A woman who had been married three times walked into a bridal shop one day and told the sales clerk that she was looking for a wedding gown for her fourth wedding.
'Of course, madam,' replied the sales clerk. 'Exactly what type and color dress are you looking for?'
The bride to be said: 'A long frilly white dress with a veil.'
The sales clerk hesitated a bit, then said, 'Please don't take this the wrong way, but gowns of that nature are considered more appropriate for brides who are being married the first time — for those who are a bit more innocent, if you know what I mean? Perhaps ivory or sky blue would be nice?'
'Well,' replied the customer, a little peeved at the clerk's directness, 'I can assure you that a white gown would be quite appropriate. Believe it or not, despite all my marriages, I remain as innocent as a first-time bride. You see, my first husband was so excited about our wedding that he died as we were checking into our hotel. My second husband and I got into such a terrible fight in the limo on our way to our honeymoon that we had that wedding annulled immediately and never spoke to each other again.'
'What about your third husband?' asked the sales clerk.
'That one was a Democrat,' said the woman, 'and every night for four years, he just sat on the edge of the bed and told me how good it was going to be, but nothing ever happened.'
