'Catholic Lane'; Chicago area events
By Matt C. Abbott
From a press release (edited):
"It's a breath of fresh air. I love it!" That's been the reaction of reader after reader to Catholic Lane, a website debuting just weeks ago, and now coming to the attention of Catholics across the country.
Catholic Lane's editor-in-chief, Mary Kochan, former senior editor at Catholic Exchange, expresses her delight with her new Internet home.
"In the years that I've worked as a Catholic editor, I've heard from a lot of readers about what they liked or disliked about Catholic sites," says Kochan. "At Catholic Lane, I was able to take that accumulated knowledge and put it to creative use in the design of a website that is both attractive and very functional."
Kochan says the website covers everything from bioethics to business and finance, politics to book and movie reviews, Eastern Catholicism to humor and health.
"We have something for everyone, but what glues all of us together with our different interests is that we are united in prayer," adds Kochan. "Catholic Lane gives priority to prayer, with links to the liturgy of the hours and Mass readings for both the ordinary and the extraordinary form."

Michael Voris of RealCatholicTV.com is returning to the Chicago area on April 30. Click here for details.
Also on April 30, the Cardinal Mindszenty Foundation will be holding its annual Chicago area conference, featuring Lila Rose, Father Edmund McCaffrey, Robert R. Reilly and Bruce Sullivan. Click here for details.
Catholic Citizens of Illinois and the Pro-Life Action League are hosting a benefit dinner on April 12 for the family of Rey Flores. Flores was attempting to institute positive, pro-life reforms for the Chicago branch of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development when he was fired by the archdiocese. He's been job-searching since (without recourse to unemployment benefits) and has five young children to support. Click here for the story on what transpired with the archdiocese, Flores and the CCHD. Those interested in attending the benefit may e-mail me for details.
